Welcome to my Web-site
Hello and welcome to my web-site. I am new at marketing myself on my very own web-site. I have always connected with clients and art lovers through FB and Instagram and locally by attending many art shows in and around Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
I have always been drawn to expressing myself visually. Even when I talk I am pointing and acting out a scene with my hands and gesturing because I see the conversation visually.
My parents were such creative people. They were always building or inventing something functional or beautiful. As a child I spent hours in my dads workshop helping hammer, saw and paint with him. In my pre-teen years I designed my own wall to wall dresser/desk unit which my dad and I built together. I helped tear down walls in our 100 year old home and helped re construct our new design.
My mother was an artist who worked in watercolor, oil and fabric. Her work always won awards with local jurors. She would teach me everything she knew as well as give me a huge appreciation for nature and flowers.
So how could I not pick up a few pointers from them. As a pre teen I drew clothes for my beloved paper dolls and later sewed fashions for my Barbie. This evolved to wearing my own designs in high school. My diary was a series of drawing depicting special moments in my life or dreams of what I hoped my future would hold for me.
For years, raising a family limited my time for personal art though I remained creative through teaching my children to express themselves artistically. As they grew and left the nest, my desire to get back to what I loved doing grew intensely. Watercolors, acrylic, oil, ink - you name it and I have dived into it to explore its abilities. Mentored by the best helped me discover who I am as an artist.
My wonderful supportive husband and I love to hike, kayak and submerge ourselves in Canada’s wonderful natural parks and wilderness areas. This is where the inspiration for my artwork forms. I like to capture the spirits I feel in nature. There is a Chi I feel in every living thing around me. Over the years my work has evolved to visualize these sometimes haunting feelings. I hope to share a reminder that every living thing is deserving of a voice in the complex interconnections of the world. Each plays a role in helping another to survive. We can all work together to create or destroy important parts of our environment. Our choice will impact the future and our children will face the consequences. I choose to protect all species on earth who have no voice.
Thank you for listening and supporting my artistic journey.
